Welcome back. I hope everyone had a restful break and lots of time to get out and be active as a family. The first week back has been a start to gymnastics with the younger grades. We have been focusing on safe landings. The older classes have been learning about puberty. I'm sure this has lead to discussions at home. Next week we will have the cross country skis from Heartland Recreation. We will be spending the next two weeks snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. A big thank you to Earl Wiebe for grooming the trail for us. On days where it is too cold to go out we will be continuing with gymnastics and the older classes will be starting our Parkour unit. If you would like to join us for skiing, we have lots of skis available, just send me a quick email to let me know you are coming so I know to email in case of cancellation. Below is the note about skiing that is being sent home tomorrow.
All students in our school will have the chance to cross-country ski and snowshoe in the next two weeks. We are borrowing the skis from Heartland Recreation. These skis normally stay in the ski room in the Normac Centre. Anyone can borrow them and go out to ski on the golf course where there are maintained ski trail. The ski room is open on Sundays from 1-4. Any other time the rink is open you can see the rink attendant to get the room opened up. The snowshoes were provided through a grant in conjunction with Heartland Recreation for our school community to use.
Here is a list of times that classes will be skiing. Please make sure students are dressed to spend time outdoors (ski pants, toque, mitts). If possible send an extra pair of mitts that day so they don’t have to put on wet mitts. If you would like to join us, just send me an email.
